Are you willing to enjoy a cleaner and well developed Giza?? Here is an opportunity for you to design it!!! Take action and join the STREET DESIGN CHALLENGE - GIZA. 

Street Design Challenge an initiative of the Creative Cooperative. The Challenge, devised and run by Creative Cooperative, “kicked off” in Amsterdam in September 2010, and is already in its fifth year. The Street Design Challenge in Giza is organized in Egypt by UNDP, UN Habitat and Giza Governorate in cooperation with the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. 

For the first time, the Street Design Challenge will take place in Egypt with the aim creating innovative, “smart” urban community solutions and applications through the use of open and collaborative methodologies, together with digital tools and prototyping. 

We want to hear your ideas and work together to come up with awesome designs for the development of Dokki Street in Giza. 

During the 3-day workshop, you will be challenged to develop a case study, identify priority needs, design and prototype possible solutions. We are looking for undergraduate and post-graduate architects, artists, photographers, engineers, techies, designers, researchers, experts on marketing and social innovators. Knowledge of digital design tools is an asset.

Venue: Cairo University- Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture. 

Date & Time: 
1- 2 May (Friday and Saturday) from 09:30 am to 7 pm: Developing ideas, designing and prototyping.
3 May (Sunday) from 6 pm to 8 pm: Final presentations and judging. 

The BEST idea will receive a prize according to the following judging criteria: innovation, feasibility, sustainability, social inclusiveness and scale-ability.

DEADLINE to apply is Saturday 25 April at 12 pm. 

Important Note:
- Selected participants will receive a confirmation e-mail and a phone call (There are only seats available for 70 people). 
- All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
- Participants are expected to bring their laptops and video cameras during the 2 first days of the workshop. 
- Participants must attend all three days of the workshop. 
- Meals will be provided throughout the workshop. 
- The workshop will be in English. 
- Age: 18-35.
