Tarek Swelim will give a talk at Qahwa and Kalam talk he will address the tension and difference between academia and tourism, both fields Swelim has extensive experience in. Swelim is an alumni of the Department of Arab and Islamic Civilizations at AUC and earned his PhD from Harvard University in 1994. His recent book, Ibn Tulun: His Lost City and Great Mosque was recently published by AUC Press.
