The Cedej and the French Institute of Egypte are glad to welcome Professor Henry Laurens for a conference about his book "The question of Palestine", on wednesday the 5th at 6 pm at the French Institute.
Henry Laurens is Agrégé of History and has a degree of literary arabic from the well known Institute INALCO in Paris. Since 2004, he is a teacher at the Collège de France where he is in charge of the contemporanean history of the arabic world.
He is also a teacher at the INALCO and he is part of the editorial comitte for the review 'Maghreb Machrek".
He is known as of of the most important french specialist of the contemporanean oriental world. He begun his studies more than 30 years ago and he has published lots of major books about it.
His book "The question of Palestine" is part of his most important research work. Composed of three parts ( published between 1999 and 2007), this book is telling the history of the region in all its complexity and gives keys to understand the political mecanisms of the contemporanean middle east, the evolution of the societies, and the rules that are now ruling the international relations of the region.
