Social Justice Film Festival Screening of Clash
Falaki Theater, AUC Tahrir Square

Dept of the Arts & Dept of Rhetoric & Composition
Set in Cairo against the backdrop of the 2013 Egyptian uprising contesting the presidency of Mohamed Morsi, Clash allegorizes the situation within a police paddy-wagon, where a group of people holding different political views are locked up together while the military and the ousted Muslim Brotherhood face off outside. The film's action is largely confined to this paddy-wagon, an 8-meter-long van, and is dramatized with the support of skillful direction, cinematography, editing and sound design. Clash was Egypt's 2017 entry for the U.S. Academy Awards. Director Mohamed Diab and/or cinematographer Karim El Shenawy will be present for Q&A.
