Kieślowski: The Trilogy
A program presented by critic Mohamed Elmasry
22-24 May 2016
French Institute of Egypt in Mounira
❖❖❖
In the early 1990s, following the huge success of his television series The Decalogue and the film Do not kill that won the Jury Prize at Cannes, the Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski moved to France. There he made four films, the trilogy, inspired by the colors of the French flag and the concepts of liberty, equality and fraternity that it symbolizes. When projecting the final installment of the trilogy in 1994, Krzysztof Kieślowski ad announced to dozens of journalists that he decided to abandon the world of cinema and to isolate themselves in the Polish countryside because "he has nothing to say". The trilogy would therefore appear to summarize what the man knew about the world.
The screenings begin at 19h and are followed by a discussion moderated by Mohamed Elmasry.
Free admission, limited seating available.
