Shawn Lent
Shawn Renee Lent is a social practice dance artist, blogger, dance educator, and manager. A nominated member of the UNESCO International Dance Council (CID), the British Council’s Transatlantic Network 2020, and is a UN Alliance of Civilisations International Fellow.
Prior to coming to Egypt, Shawn was the full-time Arts Integration Program Specialist at Columbia College Chicago.

Ms. Lent was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at the Academy of Arts’ High Institute of Ballet in Cairo, Egypt during the 2012-2013 academic year by the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, with a project titled Artist as Catalyst. While in Cairo, Shawn is also volunteering and teaching dance on an ongoing basis at the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357. 

Shawn had taught jazz and ballet dance for over 22 years and in places around the world including Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Palestine, Egypt, the US, and Uganda. 

Shawn holds a Masters degree in Arts Management with a focus in Arts in Youth and Community Development from Columbia College Chicago, as well as her BFA degree in theatre and dance from Millikin University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice with a focus in Youth Arts Development from Goldsmith’s College, University of London.
